H.E. Prof. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami Hon. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy - Nigeria

Isa Ali Ibrahim, PhD (Pantami) is the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was born in Pantami, Gombe State on the 20th of October 1972. He holds a B.Tech and MSc in Computer Science, an MBA in Technology Management and a Doctorate in Computer Information Systems. He is a Professor of Cybersecurity.

Prior to his appointment as a Minister, he was the Director General (DG)/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), which has a mandate of Research and Development in Information Technology. He is currently the Chief Digital Officer of the Federation, based on the National Policy for Virtual Engagements in Federal Public Institutions. He also serves as Chairman and member of several Presidential and Inter-Ministerial Committees and has received over 150 awards, including the Award of Best Minister on multiple occasions.

Professor Ibrahim was appointed as the Chairman of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) for the year 2022. The WSIS Forum is co-organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UNESCO, UNDP, and UNCTAD with the engagement of 28 other United Nations Agencies. He also chaired the Forum of ICT Ministers at the WSIS event in Geneva in May 2022. He is a speaker that is well sought after across the globe.

Professor Ibrahim also holds certificates in Digital Transformation from Harvard, Digital Strategy from both Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Institute of Management Development Lausanne, Switzerland, Strategic Leadership from Oxford University, and a University of Cambridge Certification in Management. Professor Ibrahim lectured at the University for almost two decades, teaching ICT courses. He is still engaged with the academia as a professor. He is a fellow of prestigious institutions, some of which include the Chartered Institute of Information Security-where he is the only African, the British Computer Society and the Nigeria Computer Society.

He has published academic articles in journals, presented papers in conferences, and published several books. He has also visited over 35 countries for ICT-related activities. Isa Ali Ibrahim who is popularly known as the Digital Minister, is a global IT citizen, a revered and highly respected Fellow of the Nigerian and British Computer Societies, and is happily married with children.



The event is a seminal effort at bringing together all 15 West African countries that makeup ECOWAS to discuss and showcase their efforts at engendering digital economies in the sub-region.
